Here is a completely unscientific test of some (what at least use to be)` common lights. Most of the lights I see in the reviews are new stuff I have never touched so my frame of reference is weak at best. I figured there might be some poor old timers like me that might enjoy seeing what we considered cutting edge back in 2003-2005 compared to the new generation. I did it to test my new Nitcore EZ AA. It's my first new premium light in about 3 years.
This review probably has you review experts shaking in your boots. The outstanding focus in the first photo should let you know, I am a pro.
Shot using my Blackberry flip. 1x zoom on the wall shot and 5x zoom on the
shed.
I edited the shed shots by raising the brightness 15 points in all the shots.

New Batteries in all but the Tigerlight.
The Dorcy is using alkalines, the EZ has an Eneloop and the Tigerlight battery is a little tired from age and one week since charging.
First impressions on the Nitcore EZ AA, I'm amazed. My new EDC for now. Second impression, I picked up the Dorcy K2 for $10 from a guy at work that got it but never even opened it. I believe it's rated at 160 lumens and seems to measure up quite well. The Tigerlight, still one of my favorites, would blow them all away if it wasn't for a 4+ year old battery and bulb that's never been updated. It's certainly no EDC but I still love both this shorty and my pepper spray version.
95% of the time I and probably most of you need a 5-15 lumen torch or a 75-150 lumen torch. The EZ is a perfect fit for me. I have a Nitecore D10 coming but feel it will be more for the wow factor than a need for a variable brightness torch but only time will tell. After the D10 my next one needs to have 3 levels, 5-15, 75-150 and 350-500 lumens all in the size of the EZ. From what we are seeing it probably isn't that far away. That will be my next review. See ya in 3 years.
Do not rate the light based on brightness on the object, only against the other lights. Even the dimmest light lit up the shed plenty well.
